Dry ice is distributed to many cities in China including Hong Kong and Macau by our one-stop logistics service. What is Dry Ice Dry ice is made from carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide exists in nature. Carbon dioxide emits from manufacturing plants during a variety of production process. In a number of countries, carbon dioxide from factories are collected and compressed into liquid state and then sent to other production plants for the manufacturing of carbonated drinks, fire extinguishers and dry ice etc. Dry ice is made by compressing liquid carbon dioxide to the solid state. The temperature of dry ice is around minus 78 degree Celsius. It is commonly used as a quick cooling agent and for cleaning purpose. Food grade carbon dioxide is used for manufacturing dry ice for the food industry. Use of Dry Ice Dry ice is mainly used for cooling food stuff, particularly during transportation. The process is simple - just put food items into a Styrofoam box and add a pre-determined amount of dry ice. Alternatively to put dry ice directly into the storage compartment of a truck can produce the same effect. Dry ice is commonly used for storage of ice cream, aircraft meals, vaccines and fresh meat. Features of Dry Ice User-friendly – just put on gloves before handling dry ice Dry ice sublimes – it changes directly from solid state to vapor state and therefore is clean and mess free It freezes objects to minus 70 degree Celsius very quickly It maintains its cooling effect without any refrigeration for a long period of time – can be up 20 days Comparing with water ice, much less quantity of dry ice in terms of weight and volume is required to produce the same cooling effect It complies with the United States FDA and EPA safety standard and is harmless to human beings Insulation Equipment/Dry Ice Containers Different insulation equipment/dry ice containers can be used for different purposes: Styrofoam or plastic boxes – low cost, suitable for one-off use for the transportation of frozen goods for comparatively short distance Special vacuum containers – more expensive but can minimize the quantity of dry ice used and maintain the temperature for an extended length of time Sealed cargo bin – directly spread dry ice in the cargo bin of trucks can save the cost of container, it is simple to easy to use Recommended quantity of dry ice Vs frozen food products during transportation – assuming temperature to maintain at minus 15 degree Celsius (for reference only) Note:Food container to remain closed all the time during transportation.
